I have a bad habit of starting too many things at once and then struggling to finish any of them in a good time. Here’s what I have in the works right now!
As some of you guessed on my Facebook page, I’m making a crocheted giraffe. The pattern is for a striped one, but that many yarn ends to weave in isn’t my thing. I’m using Knit Picks Wool of the Andes “Caution” for the body of the giraffe, and Sagebrush (same brand) for the accent colour on the hooves, face, and horns.
I only have the legs done so far because after I started this, I realized that I had a blanket for an upcoming baby shower to crochet, as well as Annie’s birthday present.
Next is Annie’s birthday present. The yarn is a pretty light purple (Patrons Canadiana, Pale Amethyst) that she picked out herself. After I saw the crocheted bunny that Cheryl from On The Old Path made for her daughter Hannah, I knew I had to try making one for Annie. She loves stuffed bunnies. And since she and Hannah are friends, it would give them a similar toy to pretend play with when they get together. Annie’s bunny will end up smaller since I’m using a lighter yarn.
This is the start of the body of the bunny. Yea. I’ve got a long way to go but thankfully Annie’s birthday is still a month away.
Lastly is a sewing project. I’m making myself a new mei tai baby carrier. I actually do have a commercial one, but it is missing some features that I would like so I’m making one using this pattern and will hopefully be able to sell the one I have for the cost of materials I had to buy. I still need to look for a few tutorials for a couple of other features I want to add.
So far I have the straps done and the “pretty” panel for the back. I accidentally bought the accent fabric too small, not taking into account the direction of the pattern on it. Because of this, I had piece together the pretty fabric with some of the main fabric to make it the right size.
I think I’ll try to wait until I have these projects finished before I start anything else.
