I know, it’s been too long since I’ve posted anything! Life has been crazy busy but I’ve been managing to at least knit a little bit here and there in between all of the chaos! I made several Christmas gifts before the holidays so now that Christmas is over, I can finally make a few things for myself.
I thought I’d share what’s on my needles because I just love some of the patterns I’ve found.
First, I made myself a nice owl cable hat. I actually ended up making 2; the first one I made was a bit loose for me so I gave it to my mom and made myself a slightly smaller one.
To make the smaller one, I simply cast on for the child’s size but then knit to the height instructions in the pattern for the adult size. I don’t think I have a small head for an adult really, so I would probably suggest this for most women and teens if you make this hat. You can find the pattern, called Who?, for free on Ravelry.
Next, using the same yarn for the main colour as I used for my Who? hat, I made some Newfoundland mittens! I used a rainbow superwash yarn that I received as a Christmas gift for the “background” colour of the mittens. I’ve just started the 2nd mitt, and hopefully will finish before spring, haha. These mittens are super easy to make, you just need to know knit and purl stitches, and how to slip a stitch (just passing it to the other needle.) These Newfoundland mittens are also free on Ravelry. I am making them using size 4 needles, and find them almost a bit tight; I do tend to knit a bit tight but if you have medium to larger hands, I’d probably go up in needle size.
So, what’s on your needles? Or what other craft or hobby have you been working on? I’d love to hear about it or see!
