I haven’t been doing as much Bible journaling lately but am making an effort to get into the Word more often. I came across this verse and had to do something with it.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2 Corinthians 3:17
When we have Jesus in our heart and our lives, we also have the Spirit. And freedom! We are freed from the sentence of hell. Free from the bondage of sin. Freedom.
I decided to stick with a super simple entry because even though the concept of this freedom is so huge and beautiful and amazing, it’s also so very simple. We don’t have to earn this freedom (good, because I’d fail.) We don’t have to pay for it; Jesus did that for us! All we have to do is accept it, and it’s ours. Jesus paid the price, he opened the cage for the cage for is.
My eldest decided to join me in journaling today. He illustrated his a bit differently; he drew a picture of a bird hatching free from the confines of an egg. I love how he’s really thinking about the verse, making it his own, doing his own thing.
If you’ve been wanting to try Bible art journaling but you’re worried because you’re not an artist, don’t worry! Neither am I! I simply traced my image. This isn’t an art contest, it’s about spending time in the Word of God and connecting with Him. Just go for it! If you don’t feel comfortable drawing in your actual Bible, grab a notebook from the dollar store and use that.
Have a blessed day!
