There have been many times when I’d wonder what the proper discipline would be for certain behaviors. I didn’t want to over-react (though I struggle with that) and yet I didn’t want to be too soft, either. As a result, my discipline methods tend to be not as consistent as they should be.
This morning, as I was browsing through Raising Arrows, I learned about the If/Then Chart.
Basically, this chart is a list of behaviors and punishments. If the child does this, then this is the punishment he or she will receive. Each item on the list has a Scripture verse related to it.
The one discipline that confused me at first was “chastisement”, but from reading through the comments on the original post, I gathered that chastisement means whatever punishment you use in your home that is reserved for the most severe offenses.
At the bottom of the second page of the chart, examples of how long isolation would last, but this could be altered to suit the age of the child of course. Blessings journal could be done orally with young children.
