A funny thing happened…
As soon as we had a few cooler days, I wanted to knit!
This is my first winter since I’ve started wearing a head covering, and I wanted to find a hood of some sorts that I could wear over my cover, that wouldn’t require me to have to fix it like taking off a tight hat would. This is what I came up with. This was the biggest project I’ve tried making so far since I started knitting just over a year ago but I’m super pleased with the results and I think it looks really nice with my black coat.
I couldn’t find any buttons in my button jar that looked good with the hood, so I used my old button making tool to make a couple. I love how they look.
Next, it was time to knit hats for the boys. I made my younger two boys these Barley hats in different colours. I made Josiah an orange one (which it seems I don’t have a photo of) and Gabriel this green one.
I was going to make Tobi one with the same pattern but he didn’t like the section of garter stitch so I made his just knit. He had asked for some lightning bolts but it turned out that my skills aren’t quite up to what they need to be to do colourwork. He got stripes instead.
And lastly, I was invited to a surprise baby shower with only a few days notice so I had to find a gift! I decided to make these mix and match baby mitts. I love them! And I love that the mom can just grab 2 in a hurry and it won’t matter which two. Or, if one gets lost, it doesn’t mean that a whole pair is ruined. I did change the pattern a bit: I made the cuff in k1p1, and I made them a bit bigger than what the pattern called for.
Have you been crafting lately? I’d love to see or hear about what you’re making!
