5 Minutes with Jesus
by Sheila Walsh
We balance so many things day after day-families, jobs, church, sports. Sometimes it feels like there is no time left for the most important thing: spending time with Jesus. But Sheila Walsh will help us do just that through these concise but substantial daily readings.
Each entry includes Scripture, a brief devotional thought, and a helpful takeaway. Even after just a few minutes of reading, you will have spent time with God’s truth in a meaningful way, and be inspired to think on that truth and live in response to it the rest of the day.
I enjoyed this devotional. I received the e-book version to review and the format was fine. I’ve read Walsh’s books before so I was looking forward to this one. The devotions were short and relevant to most women I think, especially mothers. I love the list of Scriptures at the end of each devotion, taken from several different books. Some of the verses she shared were ones that I hadn’t read recently or wouldn’t have thought about in the context of the devotion so they were an eye-opener in many cases. There are 50 devotions in this book. I would give this 4 out of 5 stars, only keeping one back because I really like when devotionals have questions at the end on how you can apply the topic to your daily life or something along those lines. Either way, I really liked these devotions and they are exactly what they’re supposed to be; quick devotions for busy women to spend a few minutes with God and in the Word.
