Maybe I’m a bit late on the band-wagon, but I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about “one little word.” I guess I’ve heard of people having a word for the year to come but never really paid much attention to it. This year, I paid attention. I was scrolling through post after post on Facebook after searching for #olw and was intrigued. I prayed a quick, God, what word would you want for me? and kept scrolling.
Suddenly, the word wait came in my mind.
I don’t think I’m an unreasonably impatient person but waiting can be hard, especially if it feels like you’ve been waiting a long time already. And God knows, of course, that there are things that I’ve been struggling to be content with and praying for change.
So, wait it is.
Next, I started looking up Bible verses about waiting. There are plenty….
Psalms 27:13-14 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!
Psalms 37:34 Wait for the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off.
Lamentations 3:25 The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
Micah 7:7 But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.
…just to list a few
Waiting is usually not easy but I look forward to what God has in store for me this year!
Have you ever had a “word for your year?” What was it?
