My kids are starting to learn to read so I decided that they needed some bookmarks! I was browsing Pinterest, trying to find some good printable ones, but options for really fun ones are a bit limited when you don’t have a colour printer.
I finally decided that the kids could make their own, instead. They really enjoyed designing their own magnetic bookmarks and keep asking if they can make more.
It’s easy. You just need some card, some magnet (I used some with an adhesive back, but you can use those thin promotional-type fridge magnets and glue) and whatever you want to decorate with. Stamps, stickers, scrapbooking paper, markers, crayons…whatever you have on hand.
Cut a strip of card, about an inch wide and 7 or 8 inches long. Fold in half, and your children can decorate however they want.
Then, just stick the magnets to the ends, on the inside of the bookmark. You’re done! The magnets pinch the page they’re holding and help prevent the bookmark from sliding out. These would be a great idea for homemade Christmas gift ideas that kids can make themselves.
