Last night was not a good night.
The baby was up a lot. By a lot, I mean over 12 times. At least 7 of those were before I even finally got to sleep (which didn’t happen until after 3.)
Needless to say, this Mama is tired.
We all have those days. And these are the days when we need to give ourselves some grace. We need to cut down our expectations of ourselves.
I had a plan for today but being exhausted was not part of the plan. So, my plan changed!
Here’s my new tired Mama’s homeschool plan for the day:
Answer questions! Tobi asked me almost first thing what grasshoppers eat. We looked it up, and it turns out that they eat mostly plants, but some kinds eat dead insects and animals. And there are over 10,000 kinds of grasshoppers! We all learned something new this morning. Science, check.
We love Wild Kratts, so we put that on. With the closed captioning. More science and some reading. Check.
I read a devotional during breakfast. The kids have had some Bible time.
If the rest of the day is filled with drawing pictures, doing puzzles, playing with LEGO, and looking at books, that will be OK. We can talk about food groups at lunch time. We can talk about seasons and the weather while watching the snow fall. We can watch (Ok, I’ll be honest, will watch) some more educational TV shows.
All of that is OK!
When you’re tired, don’t feel that you have to do it all. Allow yourself some grace! Do what you need to do to make it through the day. Pray through it! Put on a movie and lay down on the couch for a bit. Take it easy and enjoy the day with your kids. 🙂
