I’m sure that you’re aware that one of the biggest storms in recorded history smashed through the Philippines last week. Unfortunately, as days go by, the tragedy becomes less of a news story and people assume that “hey, they’re getting aid now, all is good.”
But that’s not the case.
Yes, they’re getting some aid, but they are definitely still in a state of crisis. They desperately need our help.
According to the Compassion website, Haiyan was equivalent to about 3.5 Hurricane Katrinas. Over 10,000 people are feared dead.
We can help.
We can pray for the victims and for the people who are there trying to help. Pray for safety and peace. Even though the storm is over, people are still dying. Looting, sickness, lack or medical care, unsanitary living conditions, and more, are still very real and serious dangers right now for those who are in the Philippines.
We can also help financially.
Your gift will help to provide food, water, shelter, medicine, trauma counseling and spiritual support to these people in need. It will help replace items that families need in order to make a living. It will replace school supplies and household items, and more.
Any amounts that are not used in Typhoon Haiyan relief will be put into a fund for use in other disasters.
Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
Matthew 25:34-36 NKJV
