I recently was offered the chance to review a baby blanket from Day 7.
What makes these baby blankets stand out from the rest? Well, setting aside the fact that they are marvelously soft and cute, they have a Scripture verse on them! What a wonderful way to expose our babies to the Word. It also serves as a refreshing reminder to us Mamas when we’re weary. These blankets are made in Canada and you can buy Day 7 blankets online on Etsy. You can also join Day 7 on Facebook to keep in the know about their products.
There are 3 choices for the minky backing colour for this blanket; white, teal, or green. I chose teal and I love it!
The blanket is a good size, 28″ by 34″. It covers my baby well, it makes a great play mat on the floor, and even my 2 year old can snuggle under it. Josiah loves it.
The fabric feels of good quality. The stitching is very good as well. No loose threads here! Such a soft and cozy blanket makes baby skin happy!
Day 7 was founded by Myra Harder, with the verse Genesis 2:2-3 as its foundation.
2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
Myra was working successfully as a textile designer. She was producing fabric for top quilting companies and her work was featured in over 30 magazines. Over time, Myra felt the desire to share her faith through her work. Eventually, Day 7 was born and its first line of blankets, Whale Tale, was released this summer. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
Myra shared the following with me:
Personally I have had a notable amount of success in my career as a freelance designer working in the textile industry. I enjoy the work, and I felt that I was using my God given talents. I knew I should be using my gift to help God’s work as well, but I never knew how I could do that. In the past two years, it as become clear to me what I can do to start going down this path. I am trying not to look at the mountains in front of me, but to keep my eyes on God, who will lead me on the unseen path through the obstacles. I believe the journey starts with baby blankets, because I have a deep, deep desire to cover our little one’s in the word of God.
Myra has generously offered to give away one of her Whale Tale blankets! This giveaway will be open to residents of the US and Canada who are 18 and older. The giveaway will be managed with a Rafflecopter widget and the winner will be chosen randomly and informed by email. If I do not receive a reply from the winner within 3 business days, a new winner will be chosen.
