“For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.
The above verse is taken from The Parable of the Talents, found in Matthew 25:14-30. The part that sticks out to me was “according to his own ability.”
I have to admit, I’ve been wondering how I will manage keeping up with 4 kids, with the oldest being just barely 5, when the new baby comes. It’s busy as it is, and some times — OK, often — I feel as though I’m barely keeping up! And most moms I’ve spoken to who have many children say that the hardest times were when they had many littles. So, I’m a bit ashamed to say, I haven’t been as excited this pregnancy so far as I was with the others.
But as my husband pointed out to me when our pastor mentioned the above verse in church last week, God gives us responsibility according to our abilities. If taking care of young children (or any child, for that matter) isn’t a responsibility, I don’t know what is! But God seems to think that I can handle it, so who am I to argue?
