I found this cute felt Christmas wreath craft idea on Pinterest, and decided to change it a bit to make it more toddler-friendly.
- pipe cleaners
- scraps of felt, cut into small squares, with a hole cut in the middle (you can use circles, but squares were faster and easier to cut.) Pick lots of colours! I tried to have several shades of green, as well as bright colours to contrast.
- Let your child pick what colour of pipe cleaner he wants. Then he can thread the felt pieces onto the pipe cleaner in whatever order he wants. You’ll want to leave about 1 in bare at one end of the cleaner, and 3 inches bare on the other end.
- When the pipe cleaner is full, form the pipe cleaner into a circle and wrap the shorter end around the longer end. Form the rest of the longer end to make a hook. Spread out the felt pieces a bit to cover the place where the ends connected.
Sorry for the fuzzy pictures. My son kept moving around, and I had to use the “sport” feature on my camera to get a decent picture…but the quality isn’t too sharp up close!
