Have you been trying to think of way that you and your church can bless your community in a practical, need-fulfilling way? How about starting a food pantry?
How Shall We Feed Them, by Marty Girardier, is the perfect guide for organizing a food pantry within your church.
The 60-page book provides tips for getting started and organizing a team. Then you’ll find advice on the best ways to store and organize the food, as well as suggests rules and guidelines a food pantry could have to keep things running smoothly.
Girardier also provides Biblical references to support the idea behind a food pantry; serving others! Relavent Bible verses are found throughout the book. You will also find example lists, sign-up sheets, action plan sheets, and more that you can print off for use in getting your own food pantry started.
You will also find short accounts of how real-life people have been helped with food pantries.
I found this book very easy to read and to the point. The need is out there! We’re all aware of the current economy. There is a huge number of working poor in our communities! Not to mention those unable to work.
This book also really got me thinking. The closest Food Bank to me is in a town only about 10 or 15 minutes away..but I started to wonder, how many people who can’t afford food can afford a car or the gas to get that far?
This book would make a great read for someone who is looking for a new way to serve their community, for those who have a heart for those struggling in a time of need, or just as a great resource to keep in your church library for future reference.
