Here is my last post for 30 Days of Getting Organized. I’m a bit disappointed that so few people linked up, but that’s OK because I still got things done that I’d been meaning to for a long time. It’s funny maybe, but knowing that just MAYBE someone might be keeping tracking keeps me motivated to do what I said I was going to…an accountability thing, in a way.
A couple of weekends ago, Louis made us a new kitchen island. The last one he’d made us was done very quickly right after we moved in, and while it was functional, it supposed to be a “forever” piece, if you know what I mean. So, time permitted for Louis to finally build us a new one with more storage.
Storage is one thing, however, and this post has the words clean-out in it.
We decided to rearrange the kitchen (basically, moving the island and the table), and to re-organize the contents of the kitchen since we had new space. While we did this, we found many small kitchen gadgets and small appliances that we just didn’t use anymore. Before, we didn’t have enough room for all of our pantry items to fit in the pantry; the extras were stored in the basement. We managed to fit all the items from the basement shelves into the kitchen now 🙂
And, we ended up with this.
Please don’t judge me by the condition of the cupboards. The point is, they’re almost empty! 2 cupboards are almost empty in our kitchen! In fact, the second one was COMPLETELY empty until we needed a new home for the wooden salad bowl set I found at a yard sale. Wow! It’s so nice to be able to look for things in the kitchen and not have to dig and wonder if we really do have what we think we have. Plus, we’re less likely to buy something that we already have, because we couldn’t find it. Will we miss our slap chop (that hadn’t been used in at least a year), or the broken waffle maker, etc.? Nope!
