I read this post on No Time for Flash Cards about making your own alphabet dominoes, and decided to make my own!
I made mine a little bit differently than the tutorial does; I used scrapbook paper with cars on the back instead of foam. I thought the cars would add some extra fun to the activity, and I wanted to be able to laminate the cards since my children are good at destroying things (sometimes even laminated things, but it’s the best I can do.)
I made my dominoes 2 inches by 4 inches. Instead of making the first card with a Z/a, like in the tutorial, I put a star/a on the first card and a Z/star on the last card. That way, the kids can easily find the starting card, and it gives a bit of a hint as to which card goes last. My son has been having trouble remembering the order of the alphabet, so this will be a great tool! He just has to match up the lower case letter on one card to the upper case of the same letter on the next card.
I think I’ll have to make a numbers sequencing set soon!
