Homeschool at a Reptile Zoo

A few weeks ago, we were blessed by my aunt with the gift of a year family pass to a local reptile zoo that she’d won at a charity auction. Since it was rainy today and out original plans wouldn’t work, we decided to head over to the zoo for the first time.

It’s a small indoor zoo that is home to many different reptiles and a few mammals, such as marmosets and even a white skunk. They also have piranhas, scorpions, and tarantulas.

It’s hard to guage the size of that tortoise by the photo, but it came to almost knee-height!
The kids loved it! Tobi surprised me by even knowing the proper names of a few of the animals (such as marmosets and iguanas, that he recognized from Go, Diego, Go.)

We saw huge tortoises, large snakes of different kinds, and even a couple full grown alligators. We only stayed for about an hour, but since we have the year pass we can go back any time. What a great learning experience for the kids!

  1. Thanks for stopping by Tots and Me.
I think it is awesome of your aunt to have gifted you with such an awesome gift. Sounds like you had a great time. Love that your son knew the names of some animals. It's so great when they show that they are internalizing what they are watching. Your photos are awesome too.
