It’s that time again! This will be our second year with a garden, and this year it’ll be a fair bit bigger. Louis enlarged the garden plot for me after last year’s season to almost twice it’s previous size. (Last year everything was pretty cramped and the harvest was smaller than it could have been since some plants didn’t get enough sun.)
This year we plan on growing cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, broccoli, carrots, beets, tomatoes, bell peppers, scallions, and pumpkins. Tobi is excited because the pumpkins will be his 🙂 We also purchased a grape vine to plant against the archway by our garden, and a pot of strawberry plants.
Last week the kids helped me get the bell peppers and pumpkins into small pots, which I put into a small indoor greenhouse thing I bought at Canadian Tire for $30. I was unsure of how well it would work, but only 3 days after planting the broccoli, I had sprouts! Some of the bell peppers and pumpkins have sprouted too. The rest of the veggies I’ll plant directly into the garden when it’s warm enough.
I’ve thought that blog linkies were the neatest thing since I first saw one, and I’ve been wanting to figure out how to host one. I finally got around to searching for a linky tool, and now it’s time to have my first linky!
