This morning Louis and I finally got to meet the Dr. who will be delivering, and he was totally in agreement with us about being induced. My family Dr. (whom I’d been seeing the whole pregnancy) had sent him a note explaining why we were hoping to schedule an induction, so when we went to see him today he more or less came into the room and said “I hear you have a history of fast labours and have transportation issues…do you have a day this week in mind you’d like to induce?” Totally took us by surprise, even though that’s what we’d been hoping he’d say!
In case you’re wondering why I’d want to be induced early (since I know there are lots of people who are totally against inductions unless there’s a real risk to mom or baby), my last labour was only 2 hours long, and my husband works an hour away. The hospital is another 15 minutes from our house…And I really didn’t want to risk going into labour home alone with two toddlers. I also have a history of dilated early (I was 4cm before labour with my son, and 5cm before labour with my daughter.) As it is, I was 1.5-2cm on Friday, and am about 3cm now.
So, we will be heading into the hospital on Thursday (I’ll be 38 weeks-both my kids were born before 39 weeks) morning around 8am, and will hopefully have a brand new squishy little baby a few hours later!
I’m trying to not be afraid of labour..I really hate pain! I’m trying to focus on Thursday evening, by which time everything should be over with and we’ll (hopefully) be hanging out with a new human being! Any prayers are of course very much appreciated though 🙂
We still have to figure out who will take the kids while I’m in the hospital, so please also pray that plans will be made smoothly.
We didn’t find out anything more about the Rh antibody issue…I had blood drawn on Friday, but since our Dr. appointment was first thing this morning they didn’t have the results in yet. The Dr. told us that we should go see a hemologist councellor at some point so that we can become properly informed of the risks, etc, of having more children since there is a real risk of damage to the baby is future pregnancies.
I’ll try to get another pregnancy photo up before it’s too late.
