This past week was almost entirely filled with sick days, so we didn’t do too much. Monday morning we had a playgroup at a friend’s house, then did a bit of review games in the afternoon. My hubby came home from work early feeling sick, then by evening I was feeling sick. I ended up spending the whole night either on or in front of the toilet (hubby ended up fine, go figure), so Tuesday I spent the day recovering on the couch.
Wednesday we did a bit more; we worked on learning the letter T a bit, and reviewed old sight words, as well as introduced a new sight word. Tobi is doing really well, he recognizes the words Tobi and Look no problem, and is getting there with the words In and To.
The kids watched a Blue’s Clues episode in which they make boats and float them, so of course Tobi immediately wanted to make a “craft boat.” I gave them a little plastic bowl each and filled the sink up with water and they spent at least a half hour playing in the water with their boats. Tobi saw how having a sail made of pipe cleaner taped to one side made the boat tip over, and how having something sit in the bottom of the bowl was OK if it was centered.
Wednesday evening I started feeling congested and Tob wasn’t feeling great either. Thursday he spent all day on the couch totally listless, and puked a couple times late in the evening. Thankfully, he didn’t get sick too much but he spent all day Friday on the couch too. I had a pre-natal appointment Friday afternoon so I took him with me and it turns out he has tonsillitis so he’s on antibiotics now but still not to 100%. He was a bit better on Saturday but Sunday he was listless and not eating on the couch again so I ended up spending 5 hours in the ER with him to be told “His tonsils are improving, call or come back if he’s still this sick in two more days.”
I’m thinking this week will be mostly spent on counting and alphabet games and review; not going to introduce anything new since we didn’t really do much last week and I don’t know how well Tobi will be feeling. I just need to get him out of the habit of spending the whole day on the couch!
