I tried to follow the schedule I made but things didn’t really go as planned. Usually, Tobi is up by 7:30…Monday, he slept in til just after 9! So we didn’t really get moving with things til fairly late in the morning. The next morning he was up at 6:30, so I had to change times again. I have a feeling that even the (what I thought) very laid back “schedule” will be more of a guideline…which is fine!
This past week we worked on the letter L, and our memory verse was Psalm 27:1a, “The Lord is my light and my salvation…” We will have to keep working on the verse this week since Tobi wasn’t too interested in it and hasn’t really remembered it yet. Our sigh word was “look”, and Tobi was able to recognize it and partially spell it out after only a few days!
We read a LOT this week, which was great. He’s finally wanting to sit down long enough to listen to a story through. I even heard him “reading” a story to himself at one point, and another day I heard him trying to teach Annie some letters!
I introduced Tobi to what I can only think to call the “squish” bag. I saw the idea for this on another site, but I can’t remember where. Basically, it’s a ziplock bag that I put some tempera paint in, and hot glued shut. Tobi can draw letters and shapes in it, and he loves to make handprints in it. It just requires 100% supervision because he kept wanting to open the bag and paint.
One day I gave the kids a bunch of Q-tips to make shapes out of. Tobi made a boat shape, crouched in it, and rowed, singing Row Row Row my Boat..too funny! Annie had fun just taking them in and out of the bottle, closing the bottle, then needing help to open it again. I also gave them a few coloured pom poms to sort into cups, but they only lasted a few minutes with that activity.
We had lots of fun with their fabric numbers, too!
