This past week we worked on the letter A. It was a fairly laid back week, but we played a lot with alphabet magnets. Tobi made an A-a Apple tree..He was so proud of it, he barely let me take a photo then he was off and running to the fridge to post it up.
Same with his letter A-a tracing (you can find this available for download in my printables section)
We talked about what sound a long A makes, but he never repeated it so I think I’ll bring it up this week too a few times. We also worked on the memory verse from last week (Genesis 1:1) and he’s getting very close to being able to say it all at once!
I also made up a Letter Seach page for Tobi, and he did really well…He insisted on using yellow marker on the orange paper so you can barely see it, lol, then Annabel scribbled on it a bit with a dark marker..but he had the idea right!
Annabel made sure she kept in the loop with most of the activities, getting to glue things and draw with markers when Tobi did. I put together a small work-pack of colours and shapes items for her to play with to match Tobi’s work-box, and she enjoyed looking at the books and stacking the blocks.
I’d tried making a Match the Colours work-pack with I think 8 different colours of cardstock, then 4 small items in each of those colours for them to match up, but it didn’t go well. Tobi kept wanting to take away the items and toys, and it ended up in a big “mine!” fight..oh well!
We also did a lot of reading this week, and I’ve started Tobi on a couple of sight words. He can recognize his name now 🙂
I also came across Annabel reading a few times..and love how every time she crosses her ankles to settle in with the book.
